Who am I ?
Brice Bertho, from Vic King Productions
Film studies, a passion for images and an entrepreneurial career: discover my story, and let’s write the rest together!
Passionate about art and film, it was natural for me to study cinema after my scientific baccalaureate. Coming from a creative background, cinema has always been a source of escape. Watching up to 4 films a day, I was eager to understand and know everything that was possible for the 7th art. I made some wonderful encounters and gained many experiences. I was able to discover all the technical professions (editing, sound recording, machinery, stage management) as well as the creative ones (production, directing and writing).
Alongside my studies, I launched my first project, a documentary about a James Beard award chef from Provence who, 25 years ago, launched his business in Hawaii. He revolutionized local cuisine, and put the beautiful archipelago on the map as a culinary and cultural destination, far beyond surfing and hula dancers. This project earned me my first nominations as best short documentary at prestigious festivals: the HIFF (40th edition) and the Maui Film Festival (21st edition).
During the Covid period, I worked as a cinematographer and cameraman on a documentary about the heroic exploits of the British “paratroopers” at the Merville battery, enabling the Americans to land on our Normandy beaches.
I also worked as a reporter for a major Brazilian TV channel, on the attack on Nice cathedral. Lastly, I produced a promotional report for a coaching company.
To diversify my portfolio and experience, I’ve gradually transposed my film expertise into the field of photography. From simple portraits to photo reports in the field, I’ve done it all.
A new passion was born, that of telling an entire story in a single image (this time!): an entrepreneurial journey, the daily life of a craftsman, a significant event for my subject, and so on.
The declic
I also discovered the world of the workplace, and quickly became aware that :
- Companies need to communicate,
- Digital networks are driving communication through images,
- Too often, companies drown their efforts in the mass, copying trends.
My entrepreneurial ambition took shape: to launch a production company, specializing in documentaries and the production of advertising images for companies. Vic King Productions was born. And, since it’s been a story of passion from the start, it takes its name from my first dog.
